What is the altcoin season index?
Altcoin season occurs when the majority of top-performing cryptocurrencies (over 90 days) are altcoins instead of Bitcoin. The Altcoin Season Index reflects this, with a higher score when altcoins outperform Bitcoin and a lower score when Bitcoin dominates. Stablecoins like Tether and DAI, as well as asset-backed tokens (e.g., WBTC, stETH, cLINK), are excluded. If 75% of the top 100 coins outperform Bitcoin in the last 90 days, it's Altcoin Season.

The Altcoin Season Index generally features top altcoins based on market capitalization and trading volume, including Ethereum, XRP, Litecoin & etc.If 75% of the top 100 coins outperform Bitcoin in the last 90 days, it’s Altcoin Season. If only 25% or fewer outperform Bitcoin, it’s Bitcoin Season.This calculated value is scaled from 1 to 100 and refreshed on a daily basis.
