What is Bitway?

Bitway is a Layer 1 blockchain protocol designed for Bitcoin-based applications. It allows users to continue using their existing Bitcoin wallets—supporting Taproot, Native SegWit, and Bitway-native addresses—without needing EVM wallets or bridging.

The platform features several core capabilities:

• Non-custodial financing — users can access loans using Bitcoin as collateral, with approval and disbursement occurring automatically, without requiring credit scores.

• Gas-free payments — transactions in BTCT (its native wrapped Bitcoin token) do not require users to hold a separate gas token, as fees are managed via a built-in sponsorship mechanism.

• Access to tokenized real-world assets (RWA) — the protocol provides a gateway to compliant, institutional-grade assets such as tokenized treasuries, commodities, and trade finance. Yield is realizable in Bitcoin terms, and redemption supports both BTC and fiat.

• Programmability — Bitway supports EVM and WASM smart contracts, includes oracles and cross-chain modules, and offers developer tools and SDKs to build scalable, high-frequency applications on Bitcoin liquidity.

Bitway remains fully on-chain and permissionless, focusing on compatibility with Bitcoin’s base layer via native wallet addresses and aiming to simplify Bitcoin-backed financial operations without requiring sign-ups or KYC. It is developed and maintained by Bitway Labs.
