This choice of consensus mechanism allows the platform to remain energy efficient as it is not reliant on expensive or power-consuming hardware. Secondly, the platform is fundamentally multichain. This means that the platform’s child chains essentially operate as independent blockchains. Each child chain is fully customizable. For example, child chains can have their own tokens designed with specific features needed for their use cases. Ardor ensures scalability by removing any unnecessary data stored on child chains. This data is instead transferred to the Ardor parent chain.</p><p>Furthermore, child chains are all interoperable since they share the same source code. The chains are interconnected and native tokens of each child chain can be traded directly on the platform’s decentralized exchange. Additionally, other digital assets can be accessible across the entire network thanks to its inherent interoperability.&nbsp;</p><h3>What is noteworthy about Ardor?</h3><p>The ARDR native coin is used for forging. Forging is the process of creating new blocks and network consensus. ARDR forgers are rewarded with the transaction fees of blocks they have forged, but no ARDR coins are created.&nbsp;To be eligible for forging a user must have at least 1000 ARDR, or more, held for at least 24 hours. A user must also have at least one outgoing transaction, that has been confirmed 1440 times (over 24 hours).</p><h3>What can ARDR be used for?</h3><p>Ardor is written in Java. This means that many already existing companies across a variety of sectors, for example, finance and trading, can build directly on the Ardor platform. Projects can seamlessly connect and deploy their applications to the network.&nbsp;</p><p>Additionally, individual child chains can be made permissioned, even though Ardor is a public blockchain. This means that only authorized accounts would be able to make transactions on the given chain.
