MPC (Multi-Party Computation) is a method of storing and signing cryptocurrency without a single complete private key: the key is ‘split’ into parts and stored in different locations, which together sign the transaction, but the full key is never assembled anywhere.

In MPC wallets, the key is mathematically split into several parts (shards / key shares), each stored on a separate device or held by a different party. 

When a user signs a transaction, each shard performs its part of the calculation, and the system receives the signature, but the complete key is never present in its entirety — neither in memory nor on disk.
