COTI, an acronym for “currency of the internet” is a blockchain-based Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG). It aims to provide a platform and payments service that addresses the current issues faced in the mass adoption of blockchain.

Also, COTI has an innovative infrastructure centered around what it calls the Trustchain. The Trustchain is a proprietary consensus algorithm that is based on machine learning. Some of its advantages include lower transaction costs and increased processing speed achieved with a unique trust scores system applied to transactions.

The Trustchain operates interlinked with a multi-DAG data structure. DAGs are a type of distributed ledger technology that works in a similar way to blockchains, however, transactions are linked to each other directly. Rather than in a linear fashion to every previous block of transactions. The two mechanisms work together to increase scalability and can process over 100,000 transactions per second. 

In particular, COTI’s “MultiDAG” system allows for more than one DAG to operate and thus serve specific purposes, which could include stablecoins, company-specific tokens, amongst other use cases.

In this manner, the Proof-of-Trust (PoT) consensus algorithm is used on the platform. It is a combination of the Trustchain Algorithm and Proof-of-Work. PoT does not use a mining process, instead, it relies on a “Trust Score” assigned to network participants. The use of DAG allows more scalability with lower fees, higher levels of security and minimal network congestion.
