What is Acurast?

​Acurast is a decentralized compute network that utilizes smartphones to provide secure and verifiable computational resources. By leveraging the Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) inherent in modern smartphones, Acurast ensures a high level of security and confidentiality for computations. Its architecture includes a consensus layer with an orchestrator and reputation engine, facilitating efficient matching of computational tasks with available processors.

The execution layer employs the Acurast Secure Hardware Runtime (ASHR) and Acurast Zero-Knowledge Runtime (AZKR) for confidential and verifiable computation. Acurast supports various applications, including confidential execution, decentralized bandwidth and compute, on-chain automation, and high-performance distributed computing. Participants can join the network as processors by installing the Acurast app on their smartphones, contributing computational power and earning rewards.
