CoinShares Reports $1.65B in Weekly Crypto Fund Inflows as Bitcoin Leads

Share:

AI Overview

CoinShares reported $1.65 billion of net inflows into crypto investment products across the first three trading days of the week (report published Aug 27), led by Bitcoin $976M and Ethereum $478M, with the US contributing ~$1.5B, industry AUM near $155B and year-to-date flows at +$3.4B. The firm also flagged miners' revenue exposure to AI could rise from roughly 30% toward 70% by year-end amid tight data center capacity, and noted Bitcoin closed Aug 26 near $78,500 reclaiming its 200-day moving average—signals the firm views as supportive for crypto adoption and markets.

Digital asset investment products drew $1.65 billion in net inflows across all issuers globally over the first three trading days of the week, according to the latest weekly market update from CoinShares published on August 27. The figure follows the $2.94 billion recorded in the full week to August 20, which CoinShares described as the largest weekly inflow of the year.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Lead the Inflows

Bitcoin led with $976 million of inflows while Ethereum drew $478 million, alongside broad altcoin participation that included XRP at $80.5 million, Solana at $62.9 million, and Hyperliquid at $39.0 million. The United States drove the bulk of the flows at $1.5 billion, with Germany and Switzerland also strong. Total industry exchange-traded product assets under management climbed to roughly $155 billion, and year-to-date flows returned to a positive $3.4 billion. The figures are industry-wide across all issuers and exclude CoinShares’ own product flows, a contrast with the prolonged outflow streak Bitcoin funds only broke earlier this summer.

Miners’ AI Revenue Could Reach 70% by Year-End

Separately, CoinShares said its forthcoming mining report will argue that red tape is now the binding constraint on U.S. data center build-out, with Bitcoin miners among the principal beneficiaries. Data center vacancy has fallen from 10% in 2019 to about 1% today, while capacity waiting for a grid connection stands at roughly 2,060 gigawatts against about 1,300 gigawatts of total installed U.S. generating capacity. The firm estimates the share of revenue listed miners earn from AI has risen from roughly 30% toward about 70% by year-end, though it flagged that figure as an estimate that could prove higher. Miners already hold powered sites that can be redirected toward AI compute without the same regulatory delays facing new facilities.

A Supportive Macro Backdrop

The inflows arrived as Bitcoin closed August 26 near $78,500, reclaiming its 200-day moving average for the first time in 270 sessions. CoinShares framed the flows as a sign that persistent inflation and an uncertain Federal Reserve outlook are proving supportive for digital assets, with Fed Chair Kevin Warsh due to deliver his first Jackson Hole keynote on August 28.
