What is Cosmos

COSMOS is a project aimed at creating an ecosystem of different blockchains by allowing them to scale and work together. Traditionally, blockchains have been limited to operating solo – but COSMOS is going to change that with a sophisticated SDK and tool suite.

In other words, Cosmos is an ecosystem of blockchains that can scale and interoperate with each other. Before Cosmos, blockchains were siloed and unable to communicate with each other. They were hard to build and could only handle a small amount of transactions per second. Cosmos solves these problems with a new technical vision. In order to understand this vision we need to go back to the fundamentals of blockchain technology.

The first blockchain in the Cosmos Network is the Cosmos Hub, whose native token is the Atom. Cosmos is a permissionless network, meaning that anybody can build a blockchain on it.
