What is zVote?
zVote is a DAO launchpad framework developed by zSociety on the Aleo blockchain that enables the creation of private DAOs for unbiased governance through zero-knowledge proofs, where votes and token holdings remain hidden to prevent coercion or influence from visible tallies.
It operates via a modular registry system for DAOs, including a Voting System Manager for defining preferences and winner rules, a Proposers Manager for controlling proposal creation, and a self-upgradable DAO Manager that allows voting-based modifications to core logic without redeployments.
Users cast private votes using governance tokens on proposals, such as funding initiatives or system upgrades, with results processed on-chain but concealed until the end via upcoming time-locked mechanisms powered by Aleo's DCP protocol for on-chain multi-party computation. The open-source codebase, available on GitHub, supports custom implementations like treasury programs that trigger asset transfers upon approval, starting with a basic two-candidate first-past-the-post system and expanding through community contributions for advanced voting like ranked lists or multi-winner selections. Integration with zBot provides a Discord interface for DAO interactions, linking on-chain actions to channels and roles, while the framework runs on Aleo Mainnet with minimal credits needed for deployment.
