The NIIFI token will ensure a fully decentralised model of governance. All stakeholders will have a stake in guiding the protocol’s development process by voting mechanisms. Therefore the token is a governance token for the ecosystem.

It is crucial that token holders, that have been given the ability to vote on governance, are bonded to the success of the protocol in some way.

This model is a well understood and successful way to ensure an alignment between token holders and the best interests of the protocol. As an example, we are recommending that trading fee discounts are applied for holders of the token.

This would be done in the form of different fee discount tiers depending on holdings. Similarly for lending/borrowing, preferential rates could be applied. This will be an early governance decision for token holders.
