What is Nerite?
Nerite is a decentralized borrowing protocol on the Arbitrum network that lets users deposit collateral (e.g. ETH or other accepted assets) to borrow USDN, a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. USDN is “streamable” using the Superfluid protocol, meaning it can be sent over time rather than in a single lump sum. The stablecoin is redeemable: each USDN token issued can be redeemed for $1 worth of the collateral held in the system. The yield for users comes from multiple sources, including fees and revenue generated inside the protocol. Nerite is inspired by Liquity V2 and similar CDP (Collateralized Debt Position) protocols, with design choices aimed at minimizing governance and maximizing security. It also includes a “Stability Pool” mechanism, where users can stake or provide collateral to help maintain the system during liquidations and earn rewards. The protocol aims for governance minimization: once core rules are deployed, they are intended to be immutable, and only certain collateral types are allowed, to limit risk. Nerite also uses “tranched redemptions” to help maintain the peg of USDN and to distribute yield, where redemptions are filled from positions offering lowest yield first, encouraging arbitrage and balance in the protocol.
