The Muon protocol consists of a large number of nodes that process and sign valuable data upon request and push sensitive data in a secure threshold signature scheme to smart contracts on blockchains where the integrity can be verified.

Muon itself is not a permanent state machine like ethereum, but rather a stateless protocol. Nodes are required to deposit collateral in a Muon smart contract upfront, making sure that malicious behavior is punished by slashing.

It is run by a global community of node operators, all incentivized by the Muon token.
