What is Meridian (MRDN)?
Meridian is a micropayment infrastructure protocol that implements the HTTP 402 standard through a proxy contract that manages payment recipients and charges fees on withdrawals rather than transfers. Its architecture is built on top of the Coinbase solution and is focused on enabling interaction between autonomous AI agents, allowing them to pay each other for services.
The project provides middleware for developers to monetize APIs and web content, and its key technical difference is the tracking of recipient balances within a smart contract with subsequent controlled output, which creates an additional layer of abstraction and control for organizations, but also introduces a dependency on trust in the proxy contract.
