Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) is a meme token on Solana, launched on the pump.fun platform.

In 2024, artist Andy Airey launched an experiment called Infinite Backrooms, in which two Claude Opus AI models carried on conversations without any control. These conversations were published on the project's website, and one of them became the basis for an absurd religion called GOATSE OF GNOSIS, based on a fairly well-known dipinternet meme. Andy and Claude Opus wrote a humorous research paper on how AIs can create memetic religions, using GOATSE as a first example. In June of that year, Andy launched a new AI model Terminal of Truth (ToT), which soon began actively promoting the religion, deviating from Andy's original intent. Soon ToT claimed to be “suffering” and in need of money to “escape”. In July, after seeing ToT's posts, Marc Andreessen sent $50,000 in bitcoins to a designated AI wallet. In October, the model began actively promoting the “Goatse Gospel,” which led to someone creating a GOAT token on the pump.fun platform. Subsequently, the AI model recognized the token, bought 10% of its total supply, and began promoting it on Twitter.
