What is Enclave?

Enclave is an open-source protocol for coordinating the various actors and composing the various components necessary to create Encrypted Execution Environments (E3). These novel execution environments secure computations using fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) and other advanced cryptographic techniques, like zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) and distributed threshold cryptography (DTC). Unlike Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), which rely on trusted hardware and can be vulnerable to side-channel attacks and validation weaknesses, Enclave's decentralised architecture, advanced cryptography, and privacy-preserving mechanism design provide strong economic and cryptographic guarantees around data privacy, data integrity, and correct execution.
