Cryptocurrency Maverick Arthur Hayes Ditches Solana For Ethereum

Arthur Hayes, the renowned crypto enthusiast and former CEO of BitMEX, took to X (Formerly Twitter) to announce a major shift in his portfolio. Hayes revealed that he has recently divested from $SOL (Solana) and initiated positions in $ETH (Ethereum), leaving the crypto community buzzing with speculation.

Hayes’ Twitter feed reveals a track record that keeps the crypto community on its toes. Starting December 6, he consistently tweeted bullish sentiments about $SOL, predicting a surge to $100. The prophecy came true as the price climbed from $63 to $99, a significant 57% increase. However, six hours after Hayes announced selling his $SOL holdings, the price dipped to $93.

Analyzing Hayes’ predictions on $ETH and $BTC, it becomes evident that while not infallible, his win rate surpasses 60%. Notably, after announcing a cash-raising move and subsequent Bitcoin purchase on Feb 7, the price of $BTC soared by over 90%.

Recent Losses on Altcoins

In a candid exploration of his portfolio, it appears that Hayes is not immune to losses. His recent endeavours in $LOOKS, $ENS, and $FXS have not been as lucrative as anticipated. Notably, he incurred a substantial loss of ~$2.87M (-64%) on $LOOKS and ~$2.27M on $ENS.

However, amidst the losses, Hayes secured a profit of $55K on $LDO. His strategic withdrawal and subsequent deposit earned him a modest gain in August 2022.

In another bold move, Hayes has recently ventured into $GMX and $PENDLE. Having withdrawn 700K $PENDLE at $1.03 from Binance between Sept 1 and Dec 21, he has also acquired 218,337 $GMX at $29.74, making approximately ~$3.12M at the current market price.
