XRP Price USD Surges 21% as Breakout Ignites Fresh Rally – Can XRP Hit $2 Next?

Share:
XRP exploded 21%, breaking months of compression and reclaiming the $1.55–$1.60 band while pushing toward $1.67; $1.70–$1.75 is the next gate and a daily close above it would expose $2.00–$2.10 as the next target. The breakout is supported by institutional flows and regulated products — spot XRP ETFs saw $13.24M net inflows on Aug 20 and now hold nearly $1.2B, Bitwise clients bought about $16.89M, and Binance XRP open interest climbed to ~$263M (up ~45% since Aug 3) — but RSI near 90, negative perpetual flows and elevated derivatives activity imply short-term consolidation risk for this crypto move.
XRP price has exploded 21%, breaking out of months of compression and putting the $2 level back on the market’s radar. With the broader crypto market rally adding liquidity and institutional flows strengthening, XRP has moved from a range-bound recovery into a breakout phase. The immediate test is now whether bulls can turn $1.60 into support and clear $1.75, opening the path toward $2.
XRP ETF Inflows and Broader Crypto Rally Drive Fresh Demand
The broader crypto-market rally has provided the liquidity backdrop for XRP’s breakout, with Bitcoin’s price recovery above $77,000 helping accelerate capital rotation into large-cap altcoins. XRP is also benefiting from a stronger institutional demand backdrop. Spot XRP ETFs recorded $13.24 million in net inflows on August 20, extending the current streak to three consecutive positive sessions. Since the beginning of July, XRP ETFs have reportedly recorded only three days of net outflows and now hold nearly $1.2 billion in XRP exposure.
Moreover, Bitwise clients purchasing approximately $16.89 million worth of XRP, further reinforcing the demand narrative around regulated investment products. The combination of broader market strength and persistent XRP-specific inflows has created a stronger foundation for the latest price expansion than a purely speculative move.
XRP Price Analysis: Breakout Clears Months-Long Resistance
XRP’s daily chart shows a decisive structural breakout. The token had been trading beneath a descending trendline for months, repeatedly producing lower highs while buyers defended the broader $1.05–$1.10 support zone. That compression eventually resolved to the upside, with XRP breaking through the descending trendline and reclaiming the $1.55–$1.60 resistance band.

XRP price has now pushed toward $1.67, accompanied by a significant increase in trading volume. That leaves $1.70–$1.75 as the next major resistance area. A daily close above $1.75 would strengthen the breakout and expose the $2.00–$2.10 region as the next major target. The key level on the downside is $1.55–$1.60. If XRP holds this zone during any pullback, the former resistance would effectively become support and reinforce the bullish reversal structure.
A sustained move back below it, however, would raise the risk of a deeper retracement toward $1.30–$1.35. Momentum has also become stretched, with the daily RSI approaching 90. That makes a short-term consolidation increasingly plausible, but does not by itself invalidate the breakout.
XRP Derivatives Show Shorts Are Still Fighting the Rally
The derivatives market adds another layer to XRP’s current setup. Binance XRP open interest climbed to approximately $263 million, marking a new high and representing roughly a 45% increase from about $181 million on August 3. The increase indicates that traders have been adding leveraged exposure as XRP accelerated higher.

More importantly, derivatives positioning has not fully aligned with the spot breakout. Perpetual-market cumulative volume data has remained heavily negative, indicating persistent aggressive selling activity even as XRP’s price and open interest moved higher. Spot CVD, meanwhile, has shown an improvement from roughly -$250 million to -$194.8 million, suggesting that spot-market selling pressure has eased.
XRP Price Outlook: $1.75 Is the Next Gate Before $2
The XRP breakout remains technically constructive as long as the price holds above $1.55–$1.60. A sustained move through $1.70–$1.75 would confirm that buyers have absorbed the first wave of profit-taking and could shift focus toward $2.00–$2.10. The combination of strong spot demand, expanding derivatives activity and a broader crypto-market recovery gives bulls a credible setup for continuation.
The risk is that the current move becomes overheated before reaching the next resistance zone. With RSI near 90 and open interest elevated, XRP could experience sharp intraday swings even if the broader trend remains bullish.
