Ethereum traded near its daily peak while Whale 0x2684 realized profits and U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs drew inflows. Ethereum price was trading at $2,444.73 at press time, following a 1.4% gain over 24 hours.

Meanwhile, SoSoValue reported $184.93 million in ETF inflows for August 21. The activity occurred while ETH approached its main intraday resistance zone.

Ethereum price holds near daily high

CoinGecko recorded a daily Ethereum price range between $2,361.13 and $2,467.90. Therefore, ETH traded $23 below the session high. Moreover, the ETH price had recovered 3.5% from its low. That placed Ethereum in the upper quarter of its 24-hour range.

Earlier, the chart showed a sharp morning decline toward the $2,370 area. Buyers entered near that level and returned ETH above $2,400. Subsequently, Ethereum reclaimed $2,420 before moving beyond $2,460. Two rejections around $2,468 then established the session’s main resistance.

Afterward, a sudden pullback returned the Ethereum price toward $2,420. Nevertheless, buyers defended that level and pushed ETH back above $2,440. Immediate resistance now spans $2,460 to $2,468. A clean breakout could expose the chart’s next level near $2,480.

Ethereum Whale Realizes $9.5 Million Profit

Against that price backdrop, Whale 0x2684 took profits across Ethereum and Wrapped Bitcoin positions. The Ethereum whale initially bought 79,216 ETH for $140.77 million at an average price of $1,777. Additionally, the wallet purchased 1,400 WBTC for $89.44 million at an average price of $63,887.

Meanwhile, Merlijn The Trader compared the current selling with earlier Ethereum market cycles in his analysis. He reported that retail sold near $7 in 2016 before ETH reached $1,400. Likewise, he cited sales near $140 in 2018 before Ethereum reached $4,800.

Merlijn also referenced retail selling around $1,500 during 2025 and placed the current ETH price at $2,466 in his analysis. He said those sellers could watch another tenfold advance without participating.

Ethereum ETFs Attract $184.93 Million

While the Ethereum whale reduced holdings, SoSoValue tracked strong demand across U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs. The products generated $1.67 billion in trading volume on August 21. Meanwhile, cumulative net inflows reached $12.15 billion.
