XRP Ledger Breaches 5 Billion Transactions as RWA Inflows Surge

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has crossed a major adoption milestone, surpassing 5 billion all-time transactions as activity continues to grow across payments, tokenization, stablecoins and decentralized finance.

According to XRPScan, XRPL has now officially passed the 5 billion mark, capping more than a decade of on-chain activity. 

The network is built for fast settlement, with transactions typically confirming within 3–5 seconds at very low cost, two of the features that have helped drive its appeal for financial applications.

Interestingly, this transaction milestone is only part of the story.

XRPL Takes the Lead in Reported RWA Inflows

The network is also gaining momentum in the fast-growing real-world asset (RWA) sector.

Market analyst Diana highlighted data showing that, over a 90-day period and excluding stablecoins, XRPL recorded roughly $1.9 billion in RWA inflows. This put it ahead of Ethereum at approximately $1.6 billion and Stellar at around $1.4 billion.

More notably, these figures underscore the growing competition among major blockchains to capture the tokenization market. 

Ethereum remains a dominant force in the sector, while Stellar has built a strong reputation around payments and financial assets. 

Nevertheless, XRPL’s lead, however, suggests the ledger is rapidly becoming a more serious player in institutional tokenization.

Why does this matter? Well, as financial institutions increasingly explore blockchain infrastructure for assets ranging from bonds and funds to commodities and credit.

XRPL Adoption Is Expanding on Multiple Fronts

The latest developments extend well beyond transaction volume and RWA activity.

Gemini recently opened direct XRP Ledger deposits and withdrawals in Singapore, potentially expanding access to XRP and XRPL-based assets across the Asian market.

On the other hand, Mastercard has backed the upcoming XRPL Hackathon, where developers are expected to build applications around AI-powered payments, stablecoins, lending, borrowing and other emerging financial use cases.

Therefore, these developments paint a broader picture that the XRPL is expanding across payments, tokenization, institutional finance and emerging AI-driven applications rather than depending on a single use case.

The 5 billion-transaction milestone is therefore more than a headline statistic. It represents years of accumulated network activity, while the reported $1.9 billion in 90-day RWA inflows highlights the growing attention XRPL is receiving in the tokenization race.

The RWA figures should still be viewed in context, as rankings can vary depending on the methodology, assets included and measurement period.

Even so, 5 billion transactions combined with rising RWA activity and expanding institutional involvement gives XRPL plenty of momentum to watch as blockchain-based financial infrastructure moves into its next phase.
