What is ZKP2P?
ZKP2P is a permissionless, non-custodial on- and off-ramp system that enables peer-to-peer exchange between off-chain digital assets (like fiat currencies) and on-chain tokens (such as USDC, ETH, or Solana)—all without centralized intermediaries. At its core, the protocol uses escrow smart contracts on Ethereum that only release funds once a cryptographic proof of off-chain payment is validated, leveraging primitives like proxy-TLS (zkTLS), MPC-TLS (TLSNotary), zkEmail, or TEEs.
Building on its predecessor, ZKP2P V1 (which enabled Venmo, Revolut, and HDFC Bank fiat-to-USDC swaps using zkEmail), V2 addresses key issues by simplifying user flows, consolidating liquidity, improving integration capabilities, adding optional identity gating, and accelerating proof verification. The protocol supports any payment platform or fiat as long as the platform uses a server; sellers can pool liquidity across multiple fiat systems without needing separate pools. It also introduces an optional gating service for identity verification (e.g., to unlock higher transaction limits), while preserving full non-custodial security by moving all non-fund logic to off-chain relayers.
