Over is an open-source augmented reality platform that runs on the Ethereum network. It seeks to provide users with the ability to explore AR ecosystems with the use of mobile devices or smart glasses. The platform is hardware-independent and will be compatible with a range of devices. One of Over’s primary goals is to provide an innovative method for and disrupt the current digital content monetization, digital advertising, and digital experience monetization markets.

OVR is the platform’s native cryptocurrency. It is ERC-20 standard and functions as a utility token. The platform has a second token, OVRLand. OVRLand is an ERC-721 non-fungible token.

What are Over’s key features and how does it work?

OVRLands are a key part of the Over platform. They are parcels that comprise a digital layer of the planet divided into hexagons that can be mapped 1:1 to real-world locations. Each hexagonal spatial domain is 300 Sqm and can be traded via decentralized platforms, such as OpenSea, as well as Over’s own marketplace with the OVR token.

In order to be mapped, Over has created an Over Mapping community-led initiative, map2earn. This allows for Over’s digital layer to precisely localize AR assets onto geographic locations.

A user’s experience will be determined by geographic location rather than choosing themselves. Each OVERLand parcel, representing a geographic location, can be customized by the owner to dictate the type of experience a user will have when visiting that piece of the AR Over world. This could include 3D content which is static, to hyper-real experiences that encourage engagement with the real world. Play-to-Earn games can also be integrated into spatial domains allowing users to earn extra passive income in the form of OVR tokens..

Also worth noting is that Over has incorporated a publishing system for advertising within its platform. This allows for Over Owners to earn OVR tokens by including sponsored content into their OVRLand hexagons.

Development of the OVRLand ecosystem will be managed by the OVR community-run DAO. Malicious behavior or content can be blacklisted, which will be managed by nodes.
