OnRe Finance is a regulated on-chain reinsurance company licensed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) as a Segregated Accounts Company with IIGB and DABA licenses. It connects digital asset capital to the traditional reinsurance market by underwriting real-world insurance risks: property catastrophe, specialty lines such as D&amp;O, Cyber, Tech E&amp;O, using stablecoin collateral. The main product is <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://cryptorank.io/price/onchain-yield-coin">ONyc</a>, a yield-bearing dollar asset on Solana that represents proportional ownership in a reinsurance pool. ONyc is not stablecoin, designed to maintain a fixed $1 peg. It is a NAV-based, yield-bearing asset whose value changes based on underwriting performance (premiums, claims, reserving) and collateral yield. Returns for ONyc come from two sources: reinsurance premiums earned from underwriting and yield generated on the collateral reserves. ONyc is designed to be fully composable in DeFi — it can be used as collateral for lending, borrowing, and other strategies while maintaining liquidity mechanisms to track its net asset value. Company partners with traditional reinsurance brokers (Guy Carpenter, Howden) and crypto infrastructure providers (Solana, Ethena, Squads, Coinbase Prime). Access to ONyc is available through both regulated and permissionless channels, targeting digital asset allocators, DAOs, and institutions seeking real-world yield.
