msETH (Metronome Synth ETH) is a synthetic representation of Ethereum (synthetic ETH) issued by the Metronome Synth protocol, the value of which is secured by excess collateral (overcollateralization) in the form of other crypto assets contributed by users to the smart contract. Its price is pegged to the price of native ETH, and it can be created by pledging various assets, including ETH, staking derivatives (such as stETH) or stablecoins.

This synthetic asset can be seamlessly exchanged with zero slippage on the protocol’s internal marketplace for other synthetic assets (for example, msUSD) to create long or short positions, and can also be used in other DeFi protocols, while its cross-chain transfer is ensured by integration with LayerZero (OFT standard).
