GIWA—standing for Global Infrastructure for Web3 Access—is an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain built on the OP Stack, designed to provide faster, cheaper, and developer-friendly infrastructure for global Web3. Launched by Korea’s Upbit (operated by Dunamu), GIWA delivers fast block times, full EVM compatibility, and seamless usage of Solidity smart contracts and tooling. Its name evokes a Korean roof tile (“giwa”)—symbolizing how small building blocks can form a strong, scalable structure.
GIWA is intended to be open and accessible to the global developer community, with technical resources and documentation available both in English and Korean to encourage onboarding. Built with enterprise-grade infrastructure and security from Upbit, GIWA is positioned as a foundation for future DeFi, stablecoin, and real-world asset (RWA) ecosystems.
