Wire Network is a Layer-1 blockchain built to serve the “AI agent economy” by enabling high-volume, cross-chain transactions without gas fees. It introduces a Universal Transaction Layer (UTL) architecture that allows crypto assets and wallets from many different blockchains to interact with smart contracts in a single unified environment. A key feature is the Universal Polymorphic Address Protocol (UPAP), which provides a universal, human-readable namespace/wallet address format compatible with many chains, removing the silos between different address and address format schemes. Wire is governed via an Appointed Proof-of-Stake (APoS) consensus mechanism and a tiered node structure, intended to provide both security and scalability, while avoiding reliance on bridges or oracles for interoperability. It enforces a UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) model for transactions, aiming for verifiable and consistent transaction history. Wire’s development principles emphasize user control of private keys, non-custodial operation, limited on-chain storage of personal data, and general zero-trust security posture.
