Yellow Card has raised $40 million in strategic funding to expand its stablecoin infrastructure and Global USD Accounts product.

The round includes investments from SC Ventures by Standard Chartered, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital and other strategic backers, the company announced. The new capital lifts Yellow Card’s total equity financing to more than $120 million.

Yellow Card operates stablecoin payment rails and fiat on/off-ramps aimed at businesses, with an initial focus on Africa. The company positions itself as a stablecoin infrastructure layer for banks, fintechs and enterprises that need multi-currency payments, treasury and cross-border settlement without relying on traditional correspondent banking.

Proceeds will be used to scale Global USD Accounts, an end-to-end dollar account for businesses that enables holding U.S. dollars, swapping between stablecoins, managing treasury and collecting or disbursing local currencies via domestic rails in over 50 countries. The financing will also deepen Yellow Card’s local payment connectivity and regulatory footprint as it pushes further into Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Global USD Accounts already serve customers including Visa and Western Union, according to Yellow Card. Across its broader network, the company says it has processed more than $10 billion in transactions, supports over 50 currencies and holds licenses, authorizations or registrations in 22 jurisdictions across North America, Europe and Africa.

SC Ventures CEO Alex Manson said stablecoin adoption will depend on "robust infrastructure and clear real-world utility," adding that Yellow Card is "well positioned to scale across Africa and beyond." Sony Innovation Fund managing director Austin Noronha said Yellow Card is building the stablecoin infrastructure layer that emerging markets need, citing its APIs, fiat rails, security and regulatory-first approach.

Yellow Card CEO and co-founder Chris Maurice framed the raise as validation of the firm’s long-term infrastructure build, and highlighted a push to connect banks directly to stablecoin rails. He said that when institutions plug into this infrastructure they are "not just modernizing payments, they're unlocking dollar access for millions of businesses that traditional correspondent banking has left behind." Strategic partnerships with Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and Coinbase underpin Yellow Card’s role as a stablecoin-based payments layer for incumbent global providers.
