Ripple has made a strategic investment in London-based Licuido, an FCA-regulated digital asset trading and tokenization platform, to scale its infrastructure on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), the companies announced.

The size and structure of the investment were not disclosed. The deal is framed as a strategic partnership focused on building digital capital markets infrastructure and collateral liquidity rails on XRPL rather than a conventional venture round.

Licuido provides an institutional tokenization platform and a regulated marketplace designed for issuers to tokenize funds and other eligible real-world assets, then trade those positions as collateral. The company positions itself as bridging traditional finance and blockchain by offering issuance, financing and collateralization within a regulated framework.

The new capital will be used to scale Licuido’s infrastructure on XRPL and expand its collateral trading capabilities. The firm says its goal is to help unlock liquidity from a portion of the roughly $10 trillion currently held in global money market funds, where assets typically sit idle on balance sheets.

“Tokenization, by itself, only solves part of the challenge of unlocking liquidity,” said Brian Lynch, CEO and co-founder at Licuido. “Ripple’s backing helps us to scale that infrastructure and our collateral marketplace, on the XRPL, helping institutions turn assets that have sat idle on their balance sheets into liquidity they can actually use.”

Ripple framed the deal in the context of its broader tokenization strategy, citing existing partnerships with Aviva Investors, Franklin Templeton and DBS around tokenized fund structures. “Licuido provides core capabilities that are essential to further scaling this shift: liquidity for issuance and collateral mobility,” said Nigel Khakoo, SVP, Trading and Markets at Ripple.

The investment adds a specialist collateral and secondary-market layer to Ripple’s enterprise stack, which already spans payments, custody, liquidity and treasury tools, and comes as asset managers explore tokenized money market and fund products on multiple chains. No timeline was given for new product launches or expanded market coverage under the partnership.
