Key Insights:

  • Recent Bitcoin news shows that Spot BTC trading volume has dropped more than 75% across major crypto exchanges.
  • Whale wallets added 19,696 BTC in eight days even as retail demand weakened.
  • Traders are watching the price of Bitcoin as low volume and key support levels remain in focus.

In the latest Bitcoin news, BTC trading activity has dropped sharply across major exchanges, even as large holders continue to buy more BTC. The drop in volume shows weaker market interest, while whale buying and ETF demand are giving traders another reason to keep watching the price of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin News: Spot Trading Activity Falls Across Major Exchanges

Bitcoin trading has slowed down in recent months. Fresh market data shows that spot trading volume has fallen by more than 75% from the levels recorded in late 2024. The decline has been seen across the biggest crypto exchanges, showing that fewer traders are taking part in the market.

Market analyst Darkfost said Binance recorded more than $35 billion in Bitcoin spot volume during July. Although that sounds like a large figure per the Bitcoin news, it is far below the $246 billion recorded in November 2024.

The same pattern has appeared on other exchanges, CoinGlass data showed. Bybit has seen an 85% drop in spot volume, while Coinbase is down 61%. OKX has also recorded a 67% decline over the same period.

The current trading levels are close to what the market saw in 2023 during the later part of the bear market. This shows that interest in buying and selling Bitcoin has remained weak for some time.

Darkfost pointed to several reasons behind the slowdown. The growing conflict between the United States and Iran has made many investors more careful with risk assets. Inflation has also remained a concern because higher interest rates usually reduce demand for assets such as Bitcoin.

Another reason is that many investors have preferred technology stocks. Strong gains in the stock market have attracted much of the available money. Even though that trend started to slow in July, it has still kept many traders away from crypto.

The lower trading volume does not mean the price of Bitcoin cannot recover. It simply shows that fewer people are active in the market right now. A stronger move will likely need more buyers to return.

Bitcoin News: Large Holders Continue To Add More BTC

While trading activity has weakened, large Bitcoin holders have continued to buy. Data shared by Santiment shows that wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC added 19,696 BTC over the past eight days. This buying came while smaller investors became less active.

Wallets holding less than 0.01 BTC have not been buying recent price dips as much as before. That suggests retail demand has cooled, even though bigger holders are still adding to their positions.

Santiment said this mix has often been seen before stronger market moves. The firm also noted that Bitcoin ETF demand has started to improve last week, as confirmed by the Farside Investors’ data. As more coins move into larger wallets, Bitcoin supply shifts toward long-term holders instead of short-term traders.

Even so, whale buying alone has not been enough to lift trading activity. The price of Bitcoin may need stronger support from retail buyers before market volume begins to recover.

Bitcoin has also remained under pressure on the price chart. Analyst Crypto Patel said Bitcoin broke below an important trendline before moving back to test the $65,600 level. The market failed to stay above that area and later moved about 4% lower. He said his stop loss has not been hit and his target remains near the 0.618 Fibonacci level around $61,000.

Per multiple Bitcoin news reports, the market is sending mixed signals. Large holders are buying more coins, but trading activity remains weak. Retail demand has slowed, and many investors are still watching the wider economy before taking fresh positions.

The next move will depend on whether buying demand returns. Until then, traders will continue to watch support levels closely while keeping an eye on the price of Bitcoin and the broader market.
