Crypto prop trading has accelerated adoption: the first proper crypto exchange began operating in March 2010 (about a year after Satoshi’s first Bitcoin), market infrastructure coalesced between 2020 and 2022, and from 2024 onward crypto-native prop firms reported double- or triple-digit year-on-year growth in new trader sign-ups. These firms are bridging crypto volatility, trader skill gaps and traditional market capital but still face material risks from extreme asset volatility and market structure challenges across DeFi, DEX and CEX venues.
