XRP Rich List: Who Really Holds the Power in the XRPL Network?

A new tool, the XRP Rich List Summary, is capturing attention in the XRP community. Developed by a Japanese programmer, the platform provides detailed insights into XRP wallet distributions and ownership.

The report was highlighted by XRPL validator VET through X on December 16, 2024.

Key Features of the XRP Rich List Summary

The platform offers several features to help users analyze XRP ownership:

• Labeled Wallets: Prominent wallets, including those of exchanges and corporate entities, are tagged.
• Balance Trends: Wallet movements can be tracked over 7-day and 30-day periods to identify accumulation or distribution.
• Interactive Visuals: A heat map displays the spread of XRP holdings across the network.

The data is updated hourly, ensuring the latest wallet activity is reflected. Information is sourced directly from XRP Scan and the XRPL.

Exchanges Dominate XRP Holdings

The tool ranks wallets on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) based on ownership and activity. According to the data, South Korea’s Upbit exchange leads with over 6 billion XRP in its wallet.

Binance follows with 26 wallets, while Coinbase manages 542 wallets, reflecting the dominance of major exchanges in the ecosystem.

Ripple, the company behind XRP, also holds significant influence. The tool identifies 87 wallets linked to Ripple. 

Individual wallets owned by Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen and XRPL architect Arthur Brito are also labeled, showcasing how corporate and individual actors shape the ecosystem.

Mystery Wallets Remain Unknown

While the tool identifies many key players, some wallets remain anonymous. For instance, the second-largest wallet, holding around 20 billion XRP, has no disclosed owner. As new details emerge, the platform updates its labels to improve transparency.
