Netflix Resumes Advertising on X Platform

Netflix has chosen to resume advertising its services on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter. This comes after a temporary boycott of the social platform following comments made by its owner, Elon Musk. Musk was met with intense backlash for promoting and agreeing with a post that glorified an antisemitic conspiracy theory.

The New York Times reported last month that Netflix halted nearly $3 million worth of advertising, citing X estimates. It joined Disney, Apple, IBM, and other multi-billion dollar companies in removing ads from X.

Many have perceived the viral post in question by Elon Musk to be anti-Semitic, which led to the action being taken by the tech companies. In November, Musk answered a post claiming Jewish communities are in favor of “dialectical hatred against whites.” Specifically, Musk stated they had “said the actual truth.”

Elon Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, denies that he is antisemitic. He has said on X, “Clear calls for extreme violence are against our terms of service and will result in suspension.”

Netflix ads have begun popping up on the platform once again. There is still no sign of Walmart, Disney, or other ads from companies that are taking part in the boycott.
