KelpDAO hack (~$300M) funds were moved cross‑chain: stolen ETH routed from Ethereum → Arbitrum via Across Protocol, swapped to USDT, then bridged to Tron via LayerZero. On‑chain analysis (PeckShield) shows multi‑step laundering to break the trail and frustrate recovery efforts, increasing crypto/DeFi security and recovery risk. Exploit stemmed from compromised RPC infrastructure hosted by LayerZero, highlighting a critical security vulnerability for cross‑chain bridges and DeFi protocols.

Blockchain security firm PeckShield says the cybercriminal moved the stolen ETH from Ethereum to Arbitrum using Across Protocol, swapped it for stablecoins (USDT0), and then sent the money to Tron using LayerZero’s infrastructure.
