BitFuFu Revenue Falls 62.9% as Q2 Bitcoin Mining Conditions Bite

AI Overview

Nasdaq-listed BitFuFu reported Q2 2026 revenue fell 62.9% year-over-year to $42.8 million, driven by a 73.6% collapse in Cloud Mining Solutions to $24.9M and resulting in a $20.5M net loss versus $47.1M net income a year earlier. Managed hashrate plunged 57.7% to 15.3 EH/s and power capacity fell to 273 MW (recovering to ~20 EH/s by mid-August); the firm held 1,671 BTC, cut cash and digital assets to $119.5M, incurred a $16.9M fair-value loss and posted adjusted EBITDA of negative $18.4M. Management plans to prioritize efficiency, capital discipline and selective deployment, but the results signal near-term revenue and profitability pressure for Bitcoin mining and cloud mining operations in the crypto sector.

BitFuFu’s second-quarter results show how quickly lower Bitcoin prices and weaker cloud-mining demand can reshape a miner’s income statement. The Nasdaq-listed company reported on August 17 that revenue fell 62.9% year over year to $42.8 million.

The decline was not confined to one line of business. Cloud Mining Solutions revenue fell sharply, mining-equipment sales dropped to zero, and the company recorded a $20.5 million net loss after posting $47.1 million in net income during the same quarter of 2025.

Cloud Mining Drives the Revenue Contraction

Cloud Mining Solutions generated $24.9 million in revenue, down 73.6% from $94.3 million a year earlier. BitFuFu attributed the change to lower selling prices, softer market sentiment, and reduced order volumes from existing customers.

Self-mining revenue was more resilient, declining to $14.0 million from $14.8 million. The company said a 47% increase in average hashrate allocated to self-mining partially offset a 27.5% drop in the average Bitcoin price and a 9.7% reduction in daily BTC earnings per terahash caused by higher network difficulty.

BitFuFu’s average Bitcoin price for the quarter was $71,600, compared with $98,800 in the year-earlier period. Its digital-asset holdings also produced a $16.9 million fair-value loss, pushing adjusted EBITDA to negative $18.4 million.

Hashrate and Power Capacity Shrink

Total hashrate under management stood at 15.3 EH/s at the end of June, down 57.7% from 36.2 EH/s a year earlier. Power capacity fell to 273 megawatts from 728 megawatts. BitFuFu described the reduction as an effort to improve the quality and economics of its deployed capacity rather than a simple contraction.

The company said managed hashrate had recovered to approximately 20 EH/s by mid-August after securing additional capacity. That recovery is important because the quarter-end figures show a substantially smaller operating base even as self-mining became a larger share of activity.

Bitcoin Treasury Becomes an Operating Tool

BitFuFu held 1,671 BTC as of June 30, down from 1,792 BTC a year earlier. The company said it sold Bitcoin during the period to fund operations and hashrate procurement. Cash, cash equivalents, and digital assets totaled $119.5 million, down from $177.1 million at the end of 2025.

That use of Bitcoin contrasts with companies that treat accumulation as the primary objective. The difference is relevant while investors track institutional demand through Bitcoin and Ethereum fund flows: an operating miner may sell reserves to protect capacity even when long-term conviction remains unchanged.

BitFuFu said it will focus on efficiency, capital discipline, and selective deployment in the second half. The next test is whether restored hashrate can improve revenue without recreating the cost structure that management has been trying to optimize.
