The opposite occurred in 2026. As the broader market corrected and BTC lost nearly half of its value from local highs, Bitcoin dominance recovered to 58–59%.
The last 12 months showed that Bitcoin's dominance can increase even during market downturns. As liquidity leaves speculative sectors, capital tends to consolidate around the most liquid asset.
Bitcoin wins not only when it goes up — it also wins when the rest of the market falls faster.
