The Icon Republic forms the governing structure. The network’s overall decision-making process takes place here and comprises nodes from the Icon communities. Each Icon community can dictate its own set of rules, including consensus algorithms. Each Icon community can elect a node, a Community Representative, to interact with and participate in the governance process of the Icon Republic. They receive rewards in the form of ICX for their work.&nbsp;</p><p>Community Nodes in turn as responsible for maintaining a community-specific blockchain. This includes the governance of the given blockchain.
