Tenor, a non-custodial lending platform targeting asset managers and large borrowers, has raised a seed round led by Variant, the company said in a blog post. Nascent joined the round, alongside renewed support from Prelude, Coinbase Ventures, Lattice, Very Early, and angel investors. Deal size and valuation were not disclosed.

Tenor is building fixed-rate, onchain lending infrastructure for institutional-style users, aiming to route large segments of the $200 trillion global fixed-rate market onto stablecoin rails. The platform is designed to give businesses and asset managers direct access to fixed-rate lending markets with what the team describes as advanced execution.

The protocol is built on Midnight, Morpho’s new fixed-rate lending primitive. As an early collaborator, Tenor extends Midnight with features such as customizable markets, including whitelisted markets and grace periods, organization accounts with roles and permissions, OTC matching, and additional execution tooling. Variant, Nascent, and Prelude were also early backers of Morpho, and the Tenor investment aligns with their thesis around building on Morpho’s base layer primitives.

Tenor is currently live on Base, with deployments on additional chains planned. Existing functionality includes auto-renewal of positions at maturity, OTC offers for bespoke agreements, and the ability to earn variable rates on pending limit orders. The product targets curators, lending desks, and funds, offering portfolio monitoring across wallets, multisigs, and vaults via organization accounts with role-based permissions.

The platform presently supports crypto-backed lending markets and expects to expand into FX and credit products. The raise is intended to accelerate product development and broaden market coverage as more fixed-rate activity migrates to onchain venues.
