Despite speculation to the contrary, the newly appointed Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, has reportedly declined to speak at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference. Bitcoin Magazine CEO, David Bailey, reported that Harris was “in talks” to attend the event. Her appearance would have certainly shifted the sentiment of the Democratic Party’s stance on crypto.
Harris is vying for the 2024 presidency against former commander-in-chief Donald Trump. Trump has notably embraced crypto in recent statements and has assured the need for the US to remain a leader in the sector. Moreover, he will be speaking at the upcoming Bitcoin event being held in Nashville.

Early Tuesday, David Baily took to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss a potential bombshell appearance at this year’s Bitcoin conference. “We’re in talks with Kamala Harris campaign for her to speak at the conference,” he said.
Baily added that her appearance would be “very savvy” and would allow her to “reset the democratic positioning on the fastest-growing voter block in the country.” After reporting the campaign was “making up their minds,” Kamala Harris ultimately opted to decline the invitation to speak at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference.

In response, Baily said the appearance would have likely “been a disaster for her.” Moreover, he said that “all eyes” were now on Donald Trump. The 45th President is set to speak at the event taking place this week. There, he will likely increase his allure to crypto voters due to his overwhelming advocacy.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has already earned more than $3 million in crypto donations. Earlier this week, the Digital Chamber issued a letter to Harris urging her to embrace the sector.
They called on the democratic nominee to “open dialogue” with industry language and embrace a more optimistic tone for crypto issues. Many voters currently believe she has a “negative viewpoint of digital assets.”
