The Uniswap community has rejected a governance proposal seeking to alter its fee mechanism that would allow the distribution of revenue to tokenholders.59.9% of mobilized UNI casted against the proposal. The proposal was put down after a proposal to enable protocol revenue collection got passed.
The activation of a fee-switch has been long awaited since Uniswap airdropped its UNI token in 2020. GFX Labs had launched a similar proposal last year which ultimately failed. A common criticism against the proposal is the risk of the Uniswap protocol or its core team incurring tax/legal liability as a result of fee distributions.
