Kraken has appointed Bivu Das, a fintech entrepreneur and former Starling Bank executive, as its new UK managing director. Das will be responsible for leading Kraken’s efforts to expand its business in the UK, where it currently has 275 employees and a substantial client base. Kraken is registered with the FCA as a cryptoasset exchange and custodian wallet provider, and according to the company, it accounts for 50% of GBP spot trading volume in crypto in the UK. Das’ appointment comes at a cautious time for UK crypto firms, as new marketing restrictions have disrupted offshore exchanges. However, Das says that Kraken is well-placed to navigate the stricter regime.
