Cordant has emerged from stealth with an $8 million seed round co-led by Motive Partners and Oak HC/FT, according to a company announcement. Additional investors include Bankless VC, FJ Labs, SignalFire, Quona, Next Stage, Selah Ventures, Flatironx, Nascent Ventures, Silvercircle Ventures and Generative Ventures.

The company positions itself as a command center for payments companies, fintechs and banks operating across increasingly fragmented financial infrastructure. Cordant ingests signals from payment rails, bank accounts, ledgers, and compliance and risk systems, normalizing them into a shared event model to give teams a single operational view across their environment.

Cordant does not move or custody funds, replace core systems or require clients to centralize data. Instead, it offers payment operations, compliance, risk, treasury and audit teams a coordinated way to oversee complex workflows, manage exceptions and maintain an audit-grade record — a setup aimed at making it easier to deploy AI inside regulated institutions.

The platform is being developed with 11 design partners spanning banking, payments, embedded finance, cross-border transactions, stablecoins and digital assets. Bitso and Paxos, both investors in Cordant, are among those partners, alongside firms such as OpenReserve and Transcard that are working with Cordant to define a governed command center for financial operations.

Cordant was founded by former Rapyd leaders Eric Rosenthal, Lior Levitt, Sagi Ittah and Juan Jose Huezo, who previously led commercial strategy, product, engineering, sales and partner engineering at the payments infrastructure firm. The founding team helped scale Rapyd to more than $1 billion in revenue across over 50 countries and 100+ partner integrations, experience that informed Cordant's focus on tracing transactions across multiple counterparties and systems.

The seed capital will be used to bring the system into production and support deployments with private beta clients. Cordant is targeting regulated financial infrastructure businesses that need observability, risk identification and coordinated decisioning across traditional payment networks, stablecoins, digital assets and AI-enabled workflows.
