Coinbase CEO Warns US Risks Falling Behind G20 in Crypto Regulation

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong warned on Aug. 21 that the US is falling behind most G20 countries as many have adopted or are developing crypto regulatory frameworks and the UK recently finalized rules. He urged the Senate to quickly pass federal legislation, including the 'Clarity' bill targeted for September, to provide regulatory guidance for crypto, support DeFi and CEX market stability and preserve US leadership in global finance.
Coinbase Chief Executive Officer Brian Armstrong urged the US Senate to move quickly on crypto legislation, warning that the US is falling behind other major economies that have already established rules for digital assets.
In an Aug. 21 post on X, Armstrong said most G20 countries have adopted or are developing crypto frameworks, leaving the US as an outlier. He called for federal rules to give the industry clearer guidance and preserve the country’s position in global finance.
