Tether released open-source TranslatePsy-AfriSLM models on Sept 2 that run offline on phones, laptops and edge devices, supporting 19 African languages (Hausa, Swahili, Yoruba, Amharic, Zulu, Somali, Wolof) and keeping submitted text local to enhance privacy and security. As part of Tether's QVAC strategy, the move expands the issuer beyond USDT into local AI and payment tools, a crypto-native diversification likely to boost regional adoption and integration with stablecoins, DeFi and payment infrastructure.
