Helldivers 2 Players Triumph Over Sony’s Unpopular Account Linking Policy

Through a heartening community effort, the Helldivers 2 gamers were in perfect focus to stand against the modified Sony policy, which now got the account linking as mandatory. However, this move created a divide between players who had created their own accounts, this time requiring players to link their in-game accounts with their Sony accounts.

This provoked a massive outcry and a coordinated effort. This ultimately resulted in the rejection of the policy, which was deemed unpopular.

Helldivers 2 community rallies against controversial change

After Sony announced a requirement for the game, account connection, Helldiver 2 players by masses turned to social platforms like Reddit, Twitter, and Discord, where they could vent their anger. The protest was multifarious with players executing more than one tactic of creating mass negative Steam reviews, producing memes and saving propaganda posters, and also telling fellow fans to seek refunds for the game.

However, players need to have the “Major Orders” pre-existing infrastructure, wherein the expectation is that they will achieve specific set objectives within a targeted time frame. The movement’s organizers leveraged the existing set of governing structures and proposed particular objectives to achieve the intended directives.

Coordinated protest efforts yield results

The most determined Helldivers 2 fans, though, tore into Sony and would not let them unhinge the community. Finally, Sony announced that linking an account will no longer be required to play the game. Such a display of unity is truly amazing. First, the fans shifted their work and used the influence of the game’s “Major Order” system to reverse the negative reviews and restore Helldivers 2’s posterity.

The Arrowhead Game Studios team, the developers behind Helldivers 2, honored the fans with their organized and powerful coordination. One of the team members said,

“I have to give it to the community. You guys are excellent at creating such a strong common goal.”
