Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Receives $31,400,000 Bitcoin (BTC) Donation to Crypto Wallet: On-Chain Data

Online marketplace pioneer and Bitcoin OG Ross Ulbricht has received millions of dollars in BTC donations following his first public appearance since being released from prison.

According to blockchain tracking firm Lookonchain, Ulbricht received 300 BTC, worth about $31.4 million, to his donation wallet early on Sunday.

Arkham data suggests that most of the coins were eventually sent to crypto exchange Kraken within a few hours of receiving the donation.

Ulbricht, who was released from prison earlier this year on a pardon from President Trump, made a speech at the Bitcoin 2025 conference over the weekend, which was his first appearance in public since being freed.

Coinbase director Conor Grogan says Bitcoin wallets left behind by Ross Ulbricht when he was imprisoned for his role in Silk Road are still holding tens of millions of dollars worth of BTC.

The US government seized tens of thousands of Bitcoin tied to Silk Road, but Grogan says they weren’t able to get their hands on 100% of the coins.

“I found ~430 BTC across dozens of wallets associated with Ross Ulbricht that were not confiscated by the US government and have been untouched for 13-plus years Back then, these were probably dust wallets, now, collectively, they are worth about $47 million. Welcome back, Ross.”

However, Grogan casts doubt on whether Ulbricht can gain access to the Bitcoin in the wallets.

“Unlikely if he has the keys still stored down anywhere, I guess we will know soon enough!”
