South Korean investors show strong interest in altcoins, cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ether having low trading volumes in the country, according to a report from DeSpread Research. Local exchanges, such as Upbit, have outperformed their global counterparts in volume, with traders attracted to the high-profit potential of altcoins and the associated high risks. The report also states that South Korean traders prefer Tron’s network for transactions, due to its relatively lower transaction fees. South Korean traders continue to store their assets on overseas platforms, holding around $99 billion in digital assets overseas, according to a September report from the national tax service.
