A Chinese court has sentenced Huang to 30 months in prison for participating in telecom fraud operations in Myanmar and Cambodia. The Shanghai Baoshan District People’s Procuratorate said he was convicted on June 10 and fined 30,000 yuan.
The case began in October 2022, when Huang saw an advertisement promising 15,000 yuan for transporting gold. Following recruiters’ instructions, he reached a border area and crossed terrain with smugglers before entering Myawaddy, Myanmar.
