On July 9 the Ethereum Foundation said its Protocol Security team is deploying coordinated AI agents with specialized roles to audit systems software, cryptographic libraries and smart contracts supporting the protocol. The agents discovered a confirmed remotely triggerable panic in libp2p's Gossipsub networking component used by consensus clients, and the Foundation warned that validating AI-generated bug reports now takes more effort than finding vulnerabilities while human review remains critical for security and adoption.
