Starknet (STRK) launches Aura Cards to turn X handles into gaming characters

Ethereum-based L2, Starknet (STRK), has announced Aura Cards today.

These are digital avatars that turn X (formerly Twitter) handles into active game characters.

While they appear as simple collectables, each card boasts a distinct aura, special skills, ability (defence and attack statistics), and personalised images to ensure uniqueness among online players.

Starknet has already whitelisted 5,600 early adopters, turning X handles into playable gaming characters.

The team announced:

5,600 users are now whitelisted to mint their Starknet Aura Card, complete with unique aura, attack & defense stats, ability name, description, and custom image. Your X handle now has its own character.

The team has combined accessibility and exclusivity to ensure the cards’ launch feels community-driven and special.

Starknet gamifies community engagement

The launched Aura Cards are more than showing unique and customised designs.

They have solid use cases in Starknet’s new Player-versus-player space.

Gamers can compete with others by tagging their X handles, climbing the leaderboard, unlocking power-ups, and battling.

The PvP arena encourages friendly rivalries, daily engagement, and fun as participants fight for the lead.

Meanwhile, Aura Cards have switched from a usual NFT drop to a social game that incentivises competitiveness and participation.

This move is crucial in maintaining user engagement.

Indeed, Layer 2 platforms often struggle to keep users interested beyond performance metrics and transaction fees.

Thus, Starknet has adopted a different strategy, gamifying community participation using the Aura Cards.

Incorporating gameplay and identity creates a more entertaining and interactive ecosystem that users might want to visit daily.

Starknet is no longer only about smart contracts and wallets.

The blockchain is now about online battles, digital characters, and stories that individuals create when gaming.

Multiple users are already flexing their cards, which seem like gate passes to the Web3 world.

The strategic shift to culture-building could see Starknet thriving as it taps a distinct edge in the competitive scaling race.

Users who have missed the cards and need them can connect with holders, as each has three invites to join new participants.

The team clarified:

If you’re not whitelisted but want your card, watch who already has one and ask them; each cardholder can nominate you anytime.

More incentives on the horizon

The Cards’ rollout announcement came hours after the team hinted at a new reward program.

Starknet Foundation’s Head of Growth, Damoo, will reveal details about the incentive package during the upcoming BTCFi Summit on September 30.

STRK price outlook

Starknet’s native token traded in the red despite the bullish announcement, as it follows the current broader market performance.

STRK is trading at $0.1152 after losing over 3% in the past 24 hours.

Chart by CoinMarketCap

While experts urge investors to buy the dip, the Starknet team continues to build, positioning the native token for remarkable rebounds amid broader market recoveries.

Also, bullish indicators like surging staking indicate a healthy Starknet ecosystem.
