fomo, a social-first trading platform for on-chain markets, has acquired the proprietary software and intellectual property developed by on-chain data aggregator Mobula. Select Mobula team members will join fomo as part of the transaction to help build out the platform’s data and infrastructure capabilities.
The deal comes amid sharp growth for fomo, whose user base has more than doubled since early July to over 1.9 million, with more than 30,000 new users joining daily. Over 1.2 million users have been active in August, and the app has reached as high as No. 3 in the Finance category on the iOS App Store.
Trading activity on fomo has scaled alongside user growth, with volume rising from $500 million in June to $1.5 billion in July. The company is pacing toward more than $2.8 billion in trading volume and approximately $17 million in revenue for August, implying an annualized revenue run rate above $200 million.
fomo said the Mobula acquisition will allow it to bring critical on-chain data and global infrastructure in-house, replacing a previously fragmented set of external providers. "As fomo scales, we're investing in technology that will support the next phase of the business," co-founder and CEO Paul Erlanger said, calling Mobula's stack "exceptional on-chain technology" that gives the platform greater control over its infrastructure.
Mobula founder Sacha Marcus will join fomo's engineering team, alongside Mobula CTO Sacha Delhoux and Head of Infrastructure Cyril Conan. fomo plans to further develop the acquired tech with a focus on improving data reliability and performance across the platform.
The acquisition comes as fomo pushes deeper into a combined trading and social experience, with features that let users discover assets, follow other traders, appear on leaderboards, and build audiences around performance. The company is also investing in creators, streamers and media partners, and has expanded its product set with fomo Web, perpetuals, and Clans, its new community trading product.
Founded in 2025 and headquartered in New York, fomo is backed by Index Ventures, Union Square Ventures and Benchmark. The firm said integrating Mobula's infrastructure is intended to support continued user growth, market expansion and new participation formats on the platform.
